New York (USA). Manhattan, one of the most powerful cities in the world, will be celebrated on May 17. Nepal Day Parade 2026 is going to be held in the heart of Manhattan.

Basu Lamichhane, president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Committee, New York Chapter, said that preparations for the parade have reached the final stage. The parade will begin on 38th Street in Manhattan and end at 25th Street.

The parade is being organized jointly by NRNA New York Chapter, Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Nepal, the United States of America (FIPNA) and other organizations. The organizers expect that this year’s parade will be bigger than the previous one as FIPNA will be actively participating.

Nepal Day Parade has been held in New York for the last ten years. The parade was organized for the first time in 2016, according to Lamichhane. The objective of the parade is to promote Nepali identity and culture through the exhibition of Nepali art, literature, song, music and costumes in the financial capital of the world. The organizers believe that foreigners can be attracted to visit Nepal by showing Nepal’s art and culture. New York is home to the world’s largest billionaires.

Lamichhane said that the attendance will increase as around 50 organizations are participating this year. The parade will be grand and well-managed as 5 volunteers will be mobilized from each organization and parking and drinking water will be arranged. Around 5,000 participants are expected this year as compared to around 3,000 in the past.

According to AP Lama Sherpa, president of FIPNA, this year’s parade will be grand and special compared to the past as about one and a half dozen organizations will be added. Stating that tableaux from every community will be displayed in the parade, he said, “The tableaux participating in the parade will end at 25th Street, only selected people can participate in the cultural program on the stage prepared at the closing site.” They will get it. He added, “In the past years, the enthusiasm of the audience used to decrease after the tableaux were diverted from the stage, this year the tableaux of all communities will be connected to the stage till the end.” ‘

The parade will begin at 28th Street, Madison Avenue in Manhattan. According to organizers, the entire road from Park Avenue to Fifth Avenue of 38th Street will be closed. Participants are invited to gather at 11 a.m. The parade will start from there at exactly one o’clock, said Lamichhane.

The parade will start at 38th Street and end at 24th and 25th Streets. There will be a stage for cultural programs. “The parade that started at 1 pm will conclude at around 2 pm and the cultural program will begin after conducting a formal program for about an hour,” Lamichhane said, “The cultural program will continue till 6 pm and after that there will be one hour of cleaning work.” ‘

According to Krishna Lamichhane, financial coordinator of the organizing committee, the cost of organizing the parade is estimated to be 38,000 to 40,000 US dollars. So far, commitments of about $33,000 have been received from various businessmen, organizations and individuals.

“We have already sent letters to around 125 organizations, businessmen and individuals for financial support. ‘

More than two thousand people participating in the parade have been insured. Parking will be provided for cars and buses with VIP passes. More than one hundred volunteers will be mobilized in the parade, which is expected to be very convenient for the participants.
