World Bank willing to invest more in Nepal’s education sector

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The World Bank has shown its interest to invest in Nepal’s education sector.

With Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, World Bank Country Director for Nepal, David Sislane expressed his desire to increase investment in Nepal’s education sector.

Extensive discussions were held on the issues of education sector reform, infrastructure expansion and building technology-friendly education system.

The World Bank is willing to invest more in Nepal’s education sector, especially in the development of schools and educational infrastructures. Positive discussions were also held on making the partnership more effective for long-term reforms and expanding access to quality education.

On the occasion, Minister Pokharel briefed the meeting about the current priorities of the Ministry, adding that development of educational infrastructures, strengthening foundation learning, digitization in education and technology expansion were the major agendas of the government.

“Building a quality, inclusive and technology-friendly education system is the main objective of the incumbent government,” Minister Pokharel said, adding that collaboration with development partners would be further strengthened. ”

The meeting also discussed the issues of expanding access to digital education, improving learning achievement and making the education system more timely in nature.
