Kathmandu. It has been five years since the organic fertilizer and biogas industry was established at Okharbote of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-2 with the objective of collecting waste from Diktel bazaar and its surroundings.
Sherdhan Rai, the then Chief Minister of Province No. 1 (now Koshi Province), had inaugurated the industry on March 2 TAG_OPEN_u_28 1, TAG_CLOSE_u_28 2020 with much fanfare. The then mayor Dip Narayan Rijal and deputy mayor Bina Devi Rai had laid the foundation stone for the industry in June 17, 2019 BS.
} Residents of the municipality who were spontaneously involved in the campaign to make the municipality an organic city were happy with the operation of the organic fertilizer industry in their own place. The organic fertilizer industry with the capacity to produce one thousand kilograms of fertilizer per hour and the biogas plant established to produce cow dung gas and convert it into CNG gas and distribute it to the consumers by filling it as LP gas are in limbo.
The organic fertilizer and biogas industry, which was established with the objective of developing the municipality as an organic city and as a source of internal income, has been criticized by the current representatives of the municipality.TAG_OPEN_div_49
Five years have passed since the inauguration of two industries established with the state’s investment, but the municipality has no plan to bring them into operation.TAG_OPEN_div_47 It is almost certain that the investment of about five crore rupees of the state exchequer will be lost if the incumbent people’s representatives do not listen to the criticism of social media and locals.
