Kathmandu. As of mid-March of the current fiscal year, the Department of Industry has approved investment worth Rs 389.74 billion and Investment Board Nepal has approved Rs 102.26 billion.
Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wag said this while presenting the Economic Survey for the fiscal year 2082/83 in both houses of the Federal Parliament today. Minister Khanal said that a total investment of Rs 5.44 trillion has been approved in the industrial sector till mid-March 2020.
A total of 921 new industries have been registered with the Department of Industry till mid-March of the current fiscal year, taking the total number of industries registered to 11,140. It is estimated that about 7.85 lakh jobs will be created from such registered industries.
As of mid-March, the Department of Industry has approved foreign investment worth Rs 625.58 billion in 7,951 projects. Of the total foreign investment approved, the highest amount is in service industries (28.3 percent) and the smallest in minerals (1.3 percent).
The number of registered companies has reached 3,69,646 till mid-March. Among the registered companies, private limited companies accounted for the highest 97.5 percent while others accounted for 2.5 percent.
