Kathmandu. The Henley Passport Index, which measures the strength of passports and the accessibility of international travel, has released its 2026 report. According to the report, Nepal’s global passport ranking has improved.

Nepal has climbed four places to 97th position as compared to last year. In 2025, Nepal was ranked 101st among 36 countries with visa-free or visa-on-arrival facility.

Although the ranking has improved, the global travel access of Nepali passport holders has shrunk somewhat. Last year, the number of people who could travel to 36 countries without a visa or on arrival was reduced to 35 countries this year.

The Henley Passport Index is an annual ranking of 199 passports and 227 destinations around the world. According to the report, although Nepal’s ranking has improved, there are still challenges to expand international travel access.
