Banks, financial institutions and insurance companies urged to increase investment in climate adaptation

Kathmandu. Banks and financial institutions (BFIs) and insurance companies should expand their investment for climate mitigation and adaptation. The speakers expressed their views during a panel discussion on climate change ‘Cimaclave 1.0’ ‘Share the Scope, Raise the Hope’ conference organized by Sahara Nepal on Monday.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Dr. On the occasion, Prof Dr Nawaraj Pudasaini lauded the contribution of community forest users and indigenous nationalities in the development of Nepal’s forest sector. Senior energy expert Dr. Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital has said that investment and use of clean and renewable energy should be increased.

Executive Director of Nepal Bankers’ Association Anil Sharma, President of Nepal Microfinance Bankers’ Association Ram Bahadur Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Life Insurance Poshan Raj Poudel and Chief Executive Officer of National Cooperative Bank Badri Guragain said that all types of financial institutions should facilitate for green investment.
