Kathmandu. Health insurance payments, which were a problem in the previous years due to lack of resources, have now become easier. The payment of the remaining insurance amount during the tenure of the previous government has accelerated.

In the last week alone, the government has sent one billion three million rupees to the accounts of the concerned health institutions as health insurance. A total of 155 government, 25 community hospitals and 37 private hospitals have received the insurance amount.

The problem related to health insurance has been gradually resolved after the government sent one billion three crores to various health institutions of the country time and again to clear the arrears of the previous year. According to the information made public by the Health Insurance Board, more than Rs 320.6 million has been paid to the poor people just two days ago.

Senior medical superintendent of the board Dr Pawan Shah said that the insurance amount was given to only those who come for treatment in government hospitals but this time the insurance amount has also been given to those who come for treatment in private health institutions.

The hospitals receiving such payment include Madhyabindu District Hospital, Bheri Zonal Hospital, Narayani Hospital, Nepal Manipal Teaching Hospital, and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

Likewise, the government has also sent the insurance premium to the poor people who get treatment at the National Trauma Centre, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan and B&C Teaching Hospital in Jhapa. The amount was paid for kidney dialysis service, treatment of heart disease, serious head injury, spinal injury etc. Out of the claims received from the health institutions, the payment of the claims has been sent for the completed claims.

The government has allocated Rs 15 billion this time to avoid confusion in the future of the health insurance program due to lack of payment sources. In addition to this, the government is planning to adopt measures such as providing insurance within the range of resources, health check-up of hospitals and strict monitoring in the purchase of goods.
