Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The ‘Sindhuli Heritage Conservation and Sustainable Tourism White Paper-2083’ prepared at the citizen level for the sustainable preservation and management of the historical, cultural and environmental heritages of Sindhuli has been officially released amidst a high-level round table dialogue held in Sindhulimadhi on Sunday.

The white paper and policy demands paper were handed over to Chief Heritage Lover Bhim Bikram Thapa to Ashish Gajurel, member of the House of Representatives from Sindhuli constituency-2. Receiving the white paper, lawmaker Gajurel pledged to take special initiative to incorporate the historical strategic identity of Sindhuli and eco-tourism in the national policy and budget.

The white paper has demanded a complete ban on cementization and commercialization. The bill also calls for stopping the use of modern physical construction and rampant use of cement in Sindhuligadhi, Hariharpurgadhi and Dhunge Bazaar areas. The white paper has pledged to protect the old bunkers, cottage houses, temples and the local wooden fences “as they are”.

Similarly, a resolution has been passed that the local municipalities should take a policy decision to celebrate the ‘Vijay Diwas’ from next year by officially establishing the actual victory date of the Sindhuligadhi war on the basis of the facts of the historians.

The white paper also urged the local governments to include adventurous rafting and boat safari of the Majhi community by stopping illegal crusher exploitation in the Sunkoshi River, establishing a digital crafting lab for Danuwar handicrafts in Marin, constructing a bird-watching trail in Chure and operating a middleman-free ‘smart haat bazaar’ along the BP Highway in the budget.

On the occasion, Chairman of Hotel Association Sindhuli, Chandra Desh Shrestha announced that a special tourism promotion program will be conducted throughout the year for the development of sustainable tourism and green hospitality by conserving the heritages of the district.

Various programmes have been planned throughout the year for the promotion of Sindhuli. According to this, ‘Green Hospitality’ orientation and promotion of traditional and indigenous Majhi and Danuwar food will be done nationwide during the Sindhuligadhi Vijay Utsav on October 15.

The ‘Junar Garden Tour’ package will be facilitated in November and December by directly partnering with the junar farmers of Golanjor and Fikkal. In the month of February, ‘Fort Stage Ride’ cycling will be organized based on the forts of Sindhuligadhi and a three-day special hospitality training will be conducted in homestays and hotels in Marin, Hariharpurgadhi and Sunkoshi areas. A plan has been put forward to institutionalize the ‘Work from Nature’ package to attract remote workers in the hills of Fikkal and Mahabharat in April and May.
