Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to promote physical, mental and spiritual healthy lifestyle through Ayurveda, alternative medicine, yoga, exercise, pranayama and meditation.

This is stated in the policy and program of the fiscal year 2083/084. “Bike ambulance service will be brought into operation keeping in view the narrow roads and increasing traffic pressure in the metropolis while giving continuity to free ambulance service,” the government’s policy and programme has stated. A special programme on maternal, child and reproductive health services will be conducted. ‘Breastfeeding and care blocks’ services will be managed in public places.

Hospitals and health institutions operating within the metropolitan city will be encouraged for quality service delivery through regulation and monitoring. Similarly, the provision of 10 percent free treatment to the poor and helpless citizens will be strictly enforced. ’

Likewise, the KMC has prioritized construction of a metropolitan hospital to provide quality and specialized health services to the residents, operation of psycho-counselling service and call centre to lessen mental health problems arising out of the changed lifestyle, pneumonia vaccination for senior citizens, health check-up of KMC residents, regular service and emergency health camps in collaboration with health institutions.
