Bagmati. Hetauda: The government is preparing to reopen the Hetauda Textile Industry which has been closed for a long time and its activities have been intensified along with the on-site monitoring of it.
The Hetauda Textile Industry established in 2032 BS and operated since 2035 BS was closed in 2057 BS. Since then, several attempts have been made to reopen the garment industry, but their efforts have not materialized.
According to Himalaya Bhandari, Information Officer at the Industrial Area Management Limited, Hetauda Office, the government has increased its interest in its operation this year.
“Along with the textile industry, the yarn factory in Butwal and the cotton production factory in Nepalgunj of Banke were also operated simultaneously,” said Information Officer Bhandari. ”
Since then, efforts are being made to reopen it from time to time, he said. Stating that the textile industry could be restarted immediately, Information Officer Bhandari said the equipment could be used after minor repairs. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, has carried out an on-site inspection of the Hetauda garment industry, he said, adding that the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has taken initiative for the resumption of the Hetauda garment industry.
Likewise, a team comprising Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Meena Kumari Lama and Makawanpur Chief District Officer also inspected the industry and inspected the site. Responding to the queries raised by lawmakers in the House of Representatives on the annual budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, Minister Yadav said that the government was preparing to bring the Hetauda Garment Industry into operation from this year.
Stating that the Hetauda textile industry would be the first among the sick industries to come into operation, she said that Butwal yarn and cotton farming would also come into operation this year. The Armed Police Force No 14 Battalion has been stationed on the premises of the factory since 2075 BS following the closure of the garment factory. Before the formation of the Armed Police Force, there were only two security personnel. The industry was a den of drug addicts before the armed forces and now the industry is completely safe. Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and Nepal Police jointly cleaned the premises of the industry.
