The rock of Gharti Bhir was broken

Khotang. The road has been constructed by breaking the rocks of the famous Gharti Bhir near the border of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-4 Khalle and Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-11, Rajpani.

The road has been constructed by breaking the huge rock of Gharti Bhir on the short road section linking Diktel Bazaar, the main commercial hub of the district, to Sagarmatha Highway via Ahale-Regmitar.

The Koshi Province government’s Physical Infrastructure Development Office, Khotang has invested Rs 10.77 million to construct the road. Sitaram Raut, Account Officer at the Physical Infrastructure Office, Khotang, said that Kamala Construction and Suppliers Udayapur had signed an agreement for Rs 10.7 million out of the budget allocated by the ministry for the current fiscal year 2082/83.

Khagendra Rai, ward chair of Khalle, said that it took five months for the contractor to use excavators to break the rocks and cross the road at Ghartibhir. The contractor company had signed a contract agreement with the Physical Infrastructure Development Office in January 2082 for the construction of the road.

Former Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development and Health of Koshi State, Bhupendra Rai, inaugurated the road linking the Ahale-Regmitar-Sagarmatha Highway on Saturday. “Mahure-Buipa-Rajpani-Regmitar road section is long. “The road is useful for the convenience of both passengers and transport entrepreneurs,” he said. ”

In the past, they had planned to construct a short-distance road by cutting Gharti Bhir, but no one dared to cut the guard. The road was constructed by breaking the rocks of Gharti Bhir after the establishment of a physical infrastructure office in Khotang under the Koshi Province government. With the construction of the road, a short route to travel from Diktel to various districts of eastern Terai via Gaighat of Udayapur has been opened. In the beginning, people used to go to Gaighat from Diktel via Mahure-Buipa-Rajpani-Regmitar-Phoksingtar. As an alternative, people can travel to Gaighat from Diktel via Ahale-Rajapani and Regmitar.

The Diktel-Khanidanda-Ahale-Regmitar road is the shortest road linking the Terai districts from Diktel bazaar, so Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has given first priority. Ghartibhir at Rajapani had been a barrier to connect the under-construction road. Mayor of Diktel-Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality Tirtha Raj Bhattarai said the construction of the Diktel-Regmitar road section has been started after the Kahure-Phoksingtar road section of the Sagarmatha Highway was lengthened.

“The Diktel-Khanidanda-Ahale-Regmitar road section is 17.5 kilometers shorter than the Diktel-Mahure-Buipa-Rajpani-Regmitar road. “As this is the shortest road linking Diktel bazaar to the Terai, the budget was allocated from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure,” he said, adding, “We had already constructed dirt road from Diktel to Ghartibhir and from Regmitar to Ghartibhir with the budget of over Rs 150 million from the municipality.” We are planning to resume regular transportation once the road is constructed by breaking the big rocks of Ghartibhir. ”

Regular transportation is expected along the Diktel-Khanidanda-Regmitar road section to facilitate transportation of daily essentials including foodstuffs, hardware and fuel to the district. The Infrastructure Development Office (IDDO) had awarded the contract last year to break the rock at Gharti Bhir and upgrade the roads constructed earlier. The construction of a motorable bridge over Dikhuwakhola along the same road section is underway with the budget of Rs 30 million received from the State Road Bridge Support Unit Itahari and the Infrastructure Development Office from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development.

Steel truss worth more than two million rupees has been transported to the construction site. Vehicular movement along the Diktel-Regmitar road section has come to a halt for six months during the rainy season due to lack of motorable bridge over Dikhuwakhola. The Diktel-Mahure (20 km) and Mahure-Rajapani-Regmitar road section (29 km) are in limbo. The Diktel-Khanidanda-Aahale-Regmitar road under construction with the state government is 17.5 kilometers shorter than the Diktel-Mahure-Rajpani-Regmitar road being blacktopped.
