. The Home Ministry has directed all 77 district administrations to regularly monitor the quality and hygiene of food in hotels and restaurants across the country.

On the basis of the Home Minister-level decision, Section Officer of the Ministry, Sangam Sapkota, sent a letter to all the District Administration Offices for monitoring.TAG_OPEN_div_18 The letter calls for restricting regulation to just the process and also towards making it result-oriented.

The circular issued by Section Officer Sapkota states that stern action will be taken against any party that directly causes adverse effect on the health of the citizens or violates the prevailing laws.TAG_OPEN_div_16

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has said that its serious attention has been drawn to the widespread complaints received from the general public regarding the poor quality of food and hygiene in some hotels and restaurants operating across the country.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the District Administration Office to immediately set up a grievance redressal mechanism (hotline or rapid service desk) so that the complaints of the general public can be easily registered.TAG_OPEN_div_12

has been requested to give high priority to every complaint received from the citizen level and resolve it immediately. In order to maintain the effectiveness of the local administration and the trust of the citizens, it has been asked to end the practice of complaining about petty issues going to the center or the ministry.
