Order to produce original files in Vice-Chairman Poudel’s habeas corpus case

. The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Supreme Court to produce the original documents of the money laundering case pending at the Special Court in response to a writ petition filed by CPN-UML Vice-Chairman and former Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel.

A division bench of Justices Tek Prasad Dhungana and Meghraj Pokharel issued the order to produce the habeas corpus file filed by CPN-UML vice president Poudel citing that his wife Domaya Poudel has been kept in jail illegally.TAG_OPEN_div_16

The writ petition has named the Special Court, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Money Laundering Investigation and District Police Office, Surkhet as defendants.TAG_OPEN_div_14 The court has ordered the court to present the original file along with the charge sheet before the bench and return it.

The order has asked the Special Court to bring the original file of the money laundering case involving Deepak Bhatta and Bhatta from Patan for a thorough study of the facts and evidence related to the writ petition.

The court has also asked the government to bring the original file of the insurance offence case involving Ashish Shrestha from the Kathmandu District Court and the original file of the case related to securities related to Sulav Agrawal from the Kathmandu District Court.TAG_OPEN_div_10
