Kathmandu. Mexico has reached the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026 by defeating Ecuador.

Ecuador defeated Ecuador 2-0 at the Estadio Azteca Stadium in Mexico City to reach the round of 16. Julian Quiñones and Raul Jimenez scored a goal each for Mexico.

In the 21st minute of the game, Julian scored the first goal of the match. Raul doubled Mexico’s lead in the 31st minute. After that, both teams could not score in the match and the match remained in Mexico’s favor.

Mexico defeated South Africa, South Korea and the Czech Republic in their previous group stage to reach the knockout stage. With this defeat, Ecuador is out of the World Cup.
