Prevention of Money Laundering (Third Amendment) Bill passed

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives today passed the Money Laundering Prevention (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083. The bill was passed with a majority following clause-wise discussion on the bill and the reply of Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle.

Responding to the queries raised during the discussion on the bill, Minister Wagle said that meaningful discussion was needed on how to control corruption and economic crimes. Stating that 13 bodies can take action against money laundering cases, he stressed the need to stop economic criminal activities through extensive discussions.

“It is alleged that the bill was brought with the intention of causing hurt to someone due to prejudice. This accusation is false. “We will not be able to get out of the grey list if issues like money laundering are misused for political ends,” he said. ”
