Cinnamon exports to India in six years

Palpa. The highest quantity of cinnamon has been exported to India in the current fiscal year.

This amount is the highest compared to the last fiscal year. In the fiscal year 2077/78, 191,415 kg of cinnamon was exported to India. Information Officer at the Office Khil Bahadur Tamang shared that 1288,482 kilograms of bay leaf was also exported to India in the current fiscal year.

In the last fiscal year, 121,010 kg of cinnamon and 881,731 kg of bay leaf were exported.TAG_OPEN_div_18 According to the office, 176,697 kg of cinnamon was exported to India in the year 2080/81, 183,590 kg in 2079/80, 190,214 kg in 2078/79 and 191,415 kg in 2077/78.

India is the main market for bay leaves and cinnamon produced in Palpa.TAG_OPEN_div_14 Mohan Shrestha, chief of the Division Forest Office, Palpa, said that bay leaves and cinnamon are the major sources of income for the locals. He said farmers are selling bay leaves at Rs 50 to Rs 60 per kg and cinnamon at Rs 100 per kg.

Shrestha said that the continuous production and market expansion of cinnamon and bay leaf is expected to increase the income of local farmers and further contribute to the export promotion of forest products in the district.TAG_OPEN_div_12
