. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, several roads have been inundated due to the rise in the water level in the Bagmati River following the rainfall.

The Traffic Police along with an expert team on Friday inspected the Bagmati and other tributaries of the Kathmandu Valley after vehicular movement was affected due to incessant rainfall on July 3.TAG_OPEN_div_26

During the inspection study, the Kathmandu Traffic Police concluded that the water coming from Tukucha, Dhobikhola, Bishnumati and other tributaries could not flow smoothly due to the high level of debris in the Bagmati river.TAG_OPEN_div_24

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) at the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Suresh Prasad Kafle, said that the water in the Bagmati River rises above the tributaries during the rainy season.TAG_OPEN_div_22

He said, “The water level of the river has been raised due to the debris piled up in the Bagmati river. This seems to have blocked the flow of water from the tributaries. The concerned body needs to study in detail and find a long-term solution. ”

He expressed the belief that removing the debris from the Bagmati River to a depth of at least one and a half meters would ease the flow of water and it would significantly reduce the problem of waterlogging on the road.TAG_OPEN_div_18
