Department urges govt to reduce prices of essential goods and services

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has urged the entrepreneurs and stakeholders to reduce the price of essential goods and services in the market along with the slash in the price of petroleum products.

Issuing a press release today, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the price of petroleum products with effect from July 30. After this, the department has also urged the government to adjust the prices of goods and services in the market so that the general consumers get direct relief.

The Department has urged all sellers, entrepreneurs, transporters and service providers to provide all goods and services including food items at appropriate price.

Stating it was the common responsibility of all stakeholders to protect the rights of consumers as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075, the Department urged all sides to play a responsible role so that the impact of the decrease in the price of fuel is visible in the market price.
