Kathmandu. There is a high risk of flash floods in 44 districts of the country today.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the flow of small rivers in 39 districts including Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Udayapur, Sindhuli, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchowk, Makwanpur, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi and surrounding areas is likely to increase the risk of flash floods.
There is a moderate risk of flash floods in the rivers flowing through Gorkha, Lamjung, Nawalparasi (east), Nawalparasi (west), Palpa, Parbat, Myagdi, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Dang, Salyan, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and surrounding districts.
There is a possibility of flash floods in small rivers flowing through Chitwan, Tanahun, Kaski, Syangja, Surkhet and surrounding districts. Flood expert Binod Parajuli urged the people to stay alert as the flow of small rivers in seven provinces may increase on Wednesday and Thursday.
