Chemical fertilizers are being sold at subsidized price fixed by the government through listed vendors in the district, said branch office chief Buddhi Binod Dahal. According to him, the government has been providing subsidized chemical fertilizers to the farmers on time to avoid shortage of chemical fertilizers during the main season of plantation and selling them based on the recommendation of the local level.
He said, “As per the responsibility given to the corporation by the government, we have been bringing subsidized chemical fertilizer provided by the government on time and selling it on the basis of the recommendation of the local level so as to prevent shortage of chemical fertilizers to the farmers during the main season of farming even in any difficult situation.” ”
In order to make the details of which farmers purchased how much fertilizer transparently, all the vendors in the district will be compulsorily required to enter the details in the ‘Farmer Management System’ software. According to Dahal, technical training was imparted to the vendors in coordination with the Chief District Officer and with the support of all local governments.
“Salt Trading Corporation, which has been entrusted with the responsibility of supplying around 30 per cent of the national demand, has been fulfilling its responsibility honestly,” he said, adding that the demand for DAP fertilizer has increased for some time during the planting season this year. According to him, the consumption of urea fertilizer is high during the planting season as the demand for urea fertilizer is more than DAP.
In the last fiscal year, 42,201 sacks of urea, 21,584 sacks of DAP and 1,842 sacks of potash were sold and distributed in Chitwan.
