Govt opens way for lawmakers to appoint private secretaries

Kathmandu. Lawmakers will be allowed to appoint their own secretaries.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to allow the lawmakers to appoint their personal secretaries.

In the past, lawmakers used to appoint personal secretaries. The Sushila Karki-led government formed after the Jenji movement abolished this system.

The Karki-led government had amended the Schedule of the Act Related to Remuneration and Facilities of Office-bearers and Members of the Federal Parliament 2073 BS and removed the facilities of the personal secretary of the parliament.

The House of Representatives has 275 members and the National Assembly has 59 members.
