Power supply disrupted in Lulang for 10 days

Myagdi. MYAGDI: Power supply at Lulang of Dhaulagiri rural municipality-2 in Myagdi district has been disrupted for the past 10 days.

As many as 400 households have been deprived of electricity after lightning damaged equipment at the powerhouse of Darkhola Second Micro-Hydropower Project.

Project operator Harka Bahadur Purja informed that the lightning burnt the LC plate of the powerhouse and the equipment has been sent to Butwal for repairing. According to him, the locals of Lulang, Lamsung, Khoriya and Mareni Tole had been enjoying electricity from the project.

Locals of the 50-kilowatt Darkhola II Micro-Hydropower Project have been facing problems every year due to natural disasters and lightning. The entire ward has been plunged into darkness at night due to the lack of electricity while students have been facing problems in their education, operation of cottage industries and service delivery at the ward office.

Communication services here have been affected due to lack of charging of electronic goods including mobile phones. Although the electricity of the central transmission line was reached in Lulang last May, the central electrification has not come into use yet due to lack of meter box and wiring in the houses of the locals.
