Department of Commerce urges people not to trade shoes, slippers illegally

. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has urged all stakeholders not to trade footwear (shoes and slippers) illegally.

The Department has issued a public notice on whether or not to carry out the business of footwear illegally, calling for coordination and cooperation from all concerned.

The Department has said its serious attention has been drawn towards complaints and complaints received through various means that unlabelled, fake and sub-standard footwear (shoes, slippers and other products) were being sold through physical and digital means in the market.TAG_OPEN_div_12

Clause TAG_OPEN_div_10 6 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 states that the producers should put the labels on the products produced by them. The Department has also requested the importers to fulfill the conditions as per the law while importing the goods as per the provision in Section 8 of the Act. According to Section 11 of the Act, the right of consumers to get quality goods and services has been guaranteed as per the legal provisions including the liability of the seller selling the goods.

} The Department has notified all producers, importers, transporters, hoarders and sellers to carry out the operation of the industry by complying with the obligations and conditions as stipulated by the law. The department has informed all that stern action would be taken as per the law if any act was found violating the law.
