Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol has directed the partner offices to submit a report along with the technical reasons for the inundation in Maitighar area.
She also directed the officials of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited, Division Road Office Kathmandu and a team of concerned departments of the metropolis to submit a report.
A 90-centimeter drainage has been installed in the Maitighar area. There is a 60-centimeter drainage at the drainage point. Chief of Division Road Office, Kathmandu, Subodh Devkota, informed about the initial status of inundation. That’s the primary reason. But that’s not the only reason. Officials said that the construction of building structures around Maitighar Mandala area has obstructed the sewerage system and such obstacles need to be removed.
During the inspection, acting chief Dangol said that all obstructions in the sewerage system at Maitighar Mandala area would be made inundation-free by removing obstacles in collaboration with the local administration, infrastructure construction and facilities distribution.
Officials from Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Disaster Management Department, Public Works Department, Urban Planning Commission and Metropolitan Police Force were involved in the inspection.
