Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has completed eight thematic committees. The nomination papers were handed over to the vice-presidents, members and advisors of the committees amidst a programme held at the FNJ Secretariat, Teku.

Handing over the nomination letters, FNCCI Acting President Sur Krishna Baidya said that the active participation of the FNCCI’s thematic committees is an important basis for the empowerment of the private sector and prosperity of the country.

“Committees are effective mechanisms for policy dialogue, problem-solving and forwarding reform agendas between the government and the private sector,” he said, adding that the committee members should utilize their experience, expertise and professional expertise for the nation’s economic development. The committee’s objectives would be fulfilled only if works were carried out in a result-oriented manner in the areas of industry, trade, investment, export, entrepreneurship and employment expansion,” he said.

On the occasion, FNCCI Vice-President Naresh Lal Shrestha said thematic committees were important basis for formulating policy agenda of the FNCCI. He stressed on the need of taking the experience and suggestions of various commodity associations to the policy-level decision-making process through the committee.

Associate Vice President Prabal Jung Pandey said that the committees should be utilized as a common platform to identify new ideas, innovations and business opportunities in the private sector. He said that the committees should play a leading role in forwarding the reform proposals through fact-based dialogue with the government.

Treasurer Manish Lal Pradhan said that the effectiveness of the committees would be measured by their performance, urging the members to focus on resolving practical problems of the private sector and expanding economic activities. He expressed the belief that the recommendations of the committee would further strengthen the FNCCI’s policy concept.

Industry Committee headed by Ujjwal Shrestha, Tax and Revenue Committee chaired by Araniko Rajbhandari, Skill Development and Employment Committee chaired by Nani Raj Ghimire, Export Promotion Committee chaired by Hom Prasad Ghimire, Social Service and Disaster and Natural Disaster Committee chaired by Raj Kumar Karki, Capital Market Committee chaired by Priya Raj Regmi, Women Entrepreneurs Development Committee chaired by Sanita Nemafuki and Vice-President of Startup and Innovation Committee chaired by Sahara Joshi. Nomination letters were presented to the members and advisors.

On the occasion, the committee presidents congratulated the nominated members and urged them to take ahead the common issues of the private sector in a systematic way through thematic committees, to give timely policy suggestions to the government and to play an effective role in industry, trade, investment, tax reform, export promotion, skill development, innovation and entrepreneurship expansion.

Similarly, Industry Committee President Ujjwal Shrestha expressed commitment that the committee would prepare practical recommendations for resolving the existing problems in the industry and present it to the government through the FNCCI.

On the occasion, President of the Tax and Revenue Committee, Araniko Rajbhandari, said the committee would play active role in policy reforms by forging a common view of the private sector to make the tax system simple, transparent and business-friendly.

Skill Development and Employment Committee Chair Nani Raj Ghimire said the committee would take special initiatives to produce skilled human resources and expand employment opportunities as per the need of the industry.

Export Promotion Committee President Hom Prasad Ghimire pledged to work collaborating with the private sector to expand access to international market for Nepali products, export promotion and enhance competitiveness.

Similarly, President of the Social Service and Disaster and Natural Disaster Committee, Raj Kumar Karki, said the government would move ahead in a planned manner to make the contribution of the private sector more effective in the social responsibility and disaster management.

Similarly, Capital Market Committee President Priya Raj Regmi said the committee would play active role in preparing policy recommendations regarding the development of capital market, enhancing investors’ confidence and mobilization of financial resources.

Women Entrepreneurs Development Committee chair Sanita Nemafuki expressed the commitment to run result-oriented programmes to promote women entrepreneurship, create opportunities for economic empowerment and business expansion.
