Jhapa. Mechi Customs Office, Kakarvitta, the main trade point of eastern Nepal, has collected Rs 17.67 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year 2082/83.
This is 1.74 billion more than the previous fiscal year 2081/82. At the same time, the revenue collection of the office has increased by about 11 percent.
However, despite the increase in revenue collection, the office has not been able to meet the annual target. The office was given a target of collecting revenue of Rs 18.87 billion for the fiscal year 2082/83. However, the Mechi Customs Office said that the office has achieved 93 percent of the target.
Prior to this, the Mechi Customs Office had collected Rs 15.93 billion in revenue in the fiscal year 2081/82. In comparison, the revenue collection has increased significantly in the last fiscal year.
Mechi Customs Office is one of the major import and export points of eastern Nepal. Tea, cardamom, ginger, amriso’s broom, chhurpi and other agricultural products produced in eastern Nepal are exported through this checkpoint. Similarly, petroleum products, clothes, chemical materials and various industrial goods are imported from the country.
