Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Department of Land Management and Archive has directed the concerned land administration offices across the country to submit reports after carrying out onsite monitoring and inspection of companies, industries, institutions and institutions that have purchased or kept land beyond the ceiling limit.

The Department today sent a circular to land administration offices of 40 districts asking them to submit the reports as most of the offices have not received the reports despite repeated requests from time to time.

According to the letter issued by the Department, there is a legal provision that an on-site investigation should be conducted whether the industries, companies, foundations, projects, educational institutions and other organizations that have acquired land beyond the ceiling limit with the approval of the Government of Nepal are using the land as per the approved purpose. However, the department issued the directive again after the report was not received from most of the offices despite repeated correspondence earlier.

As per the Land Act, the concerned committee has been assigned the responsibility of regular monitoring and inspection of the organizations that have been granted permission to keep land beyond the ceiling. As per the Act, the government has to coordinate with the local level to inspect the actual use of the land within two months of the end of the fiscal year and submit a report to the Department.

The Department has directed the concerned offices to complete the monitoring by deputing themselves in the field without any delay and to submit a report with clear details whether the land was used as per the approved purpose.
