Department of Money Laundering files 7 cases, claims Rs 118 billion

Kathmandu. The Department of Money Laundering has filed seven cases in the fiscal year 2082/83.

According to the details made public by the department, 121 people have been named as defendants. The defendant has claimed a loss of about Rs 118.05 billion.

As per the provision, the information related to money laundering and terrorist financing registered with the Department would be discussed in the screening committee and if necessary to conduct preliminary investigation, the investigation officer would be appointed and the necessary process would be forwarded.

The Department has four Investigation Sections, Law and Counseling Unit, Administration and Planning Section, Investigation Coordination Section and Police Branch for the investigation and prosecution works.

The Department has been investigating revenue leakage, customs, excise duty, trade-related money laundering and money laundering offences. The Department has intensified the study and investigation process on money laundering in recent days. Similarly, the investigation and investigation has also been intensified.
