Kathmandu. A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the government’s decision to appoint federal parliamentarians as private secretaries.

Advocate Maniram Upadhyay filed a writ petition naming the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers as the defendant.

The previous government on September 21 had curtailed the personal facilities of the lawmakers by amending the Schedule of the Salary and Facilities of Office-bearers and Members of the Federal Parliament, 2073.

A cabinet meeting held on July 30 had decided to provide facilities by reversing the decision.

The hearing of the petition has been fixed for July 24.
