Kathmandu. Typhoon Naul made landfall in southern China on Sunday morning, triggering strong winds and heavy rain in southern China.

More than seven million people have been evacuated and hundreds of flights and trains have been canceled.

According to China’s National Meteorological Center, the Naul made landfall at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday off the coast of Huizhou County in southern Guangdong province. According to China’s official news agency Xinhua, this is the most powerful typhoon to hit China this year.

According to Hong Kong’s Meteorological Department, the maximum wind speed near the storm’s center was 110 kilometers per hour. Although the ‘Naul’ gradually weakened as it moved towards the interior of Guangdong, strong winds and heavy rain occurred in various areas.

More than 715,000 people have been evacuated to safety in Guangdong, state-owned China National Radio reported. According to the China News Service, some train services in the province were also cancelled for Sunday due to the typhoon.

China’s National Meteorological Center warned of heavy rain and strong winds in parts of southern Guangdong and southeastern Fujian province. According to state broadcaster CCTV, many trees fell in Huilai county, coastal Huilai county of Guangdong.

According to the Hong Kong Airport Authority, about 350 flights were canceled on Sunday. Hong Kong officials said at least nine people were injured across the city.

According to local police, part of a scaffolding installed in a high-rise building collapsed on Saturday afternoon as Naul was approaching Hong Kong. According to preliminary reports, no one was injured in the incident.

According to Taiwan’s Central Meteorological Administration, Naul caused rain in southern and eastern parts of Taiwan. The storm had moved through Taiwan’s South Sea.

Earlier this month, more than 2 million people were evacuated as Typhoon Bhavi brought strong winds and heavy rain to eastern China. ‘Bhabhi’ hit the ground in China on July 11. Typhoon Mesak made landfall in southern China on July 3.
