Kathmandu. Bibek Raj Kandel has been appointed as the advisor (energy, trade and infrastructure, special class) to Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.
While in the role of advisor, Kandel will provide strategic advice to formulate policies, advance reforms in the internal energy sector and attract private sector investment, emphasizing Nepal’s long-term energy security. He will also contribute to the reform of comprehensive energy trade and accelerating regional energy market integration.
Kandel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) with specialization in Climate Energy Transition and Leadership from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and a Master’s Degree in Energy Management from the University of Twenty-two, The Netherlands.
He has more than one and a half decades of experience in various national and international organizations including UNDP, World Bank and IRINA.
