JICA Chairman meets Energy Minister Shrestha and appeals to resolve problems of Tanahun hydropower project 

. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, paid a courtesy call on Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Tanaka Akihiko at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting, matters relating to bilateral cooperation in the development of energy, water resources and irrigation infrastructure in Nepal were discussed.TAG_OPEN_div_35 On the occasion, Minister Shrestha thanked the representatives of JICA for their support and investment in Nepal’s energy and irrigation sector so far.

He also mentioned about the Kankai and Chandra Nahar projects constructed with JICA support and hoped that the collaboration would continue in the days ahead.TAG_OPEN_div_33  On the occasion, Minister Shrestha congratulated and thanked JICA for its cooperation and cooperation in the construction of Nagdhunga tunnel way.

Energy Minister Shrestha said that the expansion of the transmission line has been given priority in the budget this time and a ‘master plan’ is being prepared for it.TAG_OPEN_div_25 He said that necessary process has been forwarded to strengthen the distribution system.

Stating that alternative and renewable energy was one of the bases of Nepal’s prosperity, he said plans have been made keeping this in priority.TAG_OPEN_div_23

Minister Shrestha also praised the Kulekhani Hydropower Project, which uses Japanese high-tech technology, which can withstand any risk, and urged for collaboration in Nalgad Hydropower Project as well.TAG_OPEN_div_21 Minister Shrestha thanked JICA for its support during the Earthquake of 2072 BS.
