Rimal arrested on charge of hundi business worth Rs 2.75 billion

. KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested a person on the charge of transacting hundi worth Rs 1.89 billion.

According to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Nepal Police Headquarters, the banking transactions of the suspects were analysed on the basis of a tip-off that some people were involved in hundi transactions.TAG_OPEN_div_14

Rajendra Prasad Rimal, 49, a permanent resident of Satyadevi-8 in Dhading district and currently living at Radha Krishna Temple area of Nagarjun Municipality-8 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has been arrested.TAG_OPEN_div_12

According to the preliminary TAG_OPEN_div_10 investigation of the police, he used his personal bank account in collusion with him and some other people to transact a sum of Rs 1.89 billion 65 lakh 39 thousand 454 through hundi.

The CIB had arrested Rimal from Radha Krishna Temple area in Nagarjun-8 on the same day after obtaining an arrest permit from the Kathmandu District Court on July 28, 2 TAG_OPEN_div_8 083 on the charge of not carrying out hundi transactions. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
