Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) calls for maintaining peace and social harmony in Tarai

. KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has said its serious attention has been drawn towards the unrest environment prevailing in the Tarai districts including Captain Gunj of Sunsari of late and the tension among the general public.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the FNJ expressed condolences to the bereaved families and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the accident.TAG_OPEN_div_20 He also wished speedy recovery to the injured.

Stating that Nepal is an example of multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural unity, the FNJ has described the Tarai-Madhes region as a centre of social goodwill, tolerance and brotherhood among different castes, languages and communities.TAG_OPEN_div_18

“Social unrest, clashes, violence and confrontation in any pretext not only affect social harmony but also have a serious negative impact on people’s life, industry and trade and the overall economy,” reads the statement.TAG_OPEN_div_16 The federation has defined social harmony and peace as the bases for the country’s prosperity and economic development.

The FNJ has also urged the government and local administration to ensure full guarantee of peace and security in the affected areas including Captain Gunj of Sunsari, expressing confidence that the disputes or misunderstandings would be resolved through peaceful talks, dialogue and mutual understanding.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The Federation has also appealed to all sides to exercise restraint by staying away from confusion, provocation and rumours and to further strengthen the social brotherhood that has been established since the tradition.TAG_OPEN_div_12
