Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Ministry of Energy to collaborate on urban infrastructure, solar energy and environmental management 

. KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has proposed to work in collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to run several programmes related to urban infrastructure, solar energy and environmental management.

During a discussion held at the Ministry with Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol at the Ministry of Energy, TAG_OPEN_div_10 Water Resources and Irrigation today, Minister Shrestha proposed to collaborate on groundwater recharge system, expansion and management of solar street lights as well as the ‘waste to energy’ project to generate energy along with the management of waste in heritage-friendly electrification ।

Minister Shrestha stressed on the need of institutional coordination between the Energy Ministry and Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the implementation of these programs.TAG_OPEN_div_8

During the discussion, acting chief Dangol said that the metropolis would make internal preparations on the issue and submit a proposal to the ministry along with a detailed action plan.TAG_OPEN_div_6  During the discussions, both the two sides agreed to institutionalize cooperation in the areas of sustainable urban development, clean energy promotion, environment protection and construction of modern infrastructures.
