Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has implemented the process of collecting electricity pole rent arrears which have been stalled for a long time.

In this connection, WorldLink Communications, an internet service provider company, has started the process to pay the pole fare through the Directorate of Distribution and Customer Service under Nepal Electricity Authority, Bagmati Province Divisional Office.

WorldLink has started the process of payment after tax deduction from the pole fare amount determined on the basis of self-declaration for the fiscal year 2082/83.

In the case of the fiscal year 2081/82, the company has paid the remaining amount by adjusting the previous double payment by adjusting the account on the basis of the verification of the pole and DB box done jointly.

Meanwhile, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha said that it was the duty of all service providers to pay the fees on time as per the law.

Stating that the payment process initiated from Worldlink was a positive beginning, he expressed the belief that other service providers would also fulfill their obligations as per the law.

Stating that the government was committed to the rule of law and impartial enforcement of laws, Minister Shrestha said practical problems surfaced in course of the implementation would be resolved within the limits of the laws. “We should be cautious of any attempts to give undue political colour to the implementation of the laws or create confusion,” he said, adding that the government has a policy of implementing the law equally for all.
