Taxpayer Incentive Portal Operationalized

Kathmandu. The Department of Inland Revenue (IRD) has urged consumers to participate in the Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program.

Issuing a notice today, the department has urged consumers who have done cash transactions to register their original bills.

According to Deputy Director General of the Department, Janak Raj Sharma, consumers who have purchased goods or services worth more than Rs 100 in cash from July 17 and have taken original PAN and VAT bill can participate in the taxpayer incentive program.

“We have launched a new website called price.ird.gov.np from Saturday,” Sharma said, adding, “Eligible consumers who have purchased goods and services worth more than Rs 100 at a time within Nepal by paying cash can upload their bill by visiting the website.” ”

The department has also clarified that they do not need to enter the bill now as the gift program has been included in the system through the QR transaction system. According to the department, consumers who have purchased goods and services worth more than Rs 100 through QR of banks and wallets do not need to register the bill now.

Since the payment transaction has been downloaded from QR and the same transaction number has been entered into the department’s system for gifting, the same number will be eligible for the gift. The department has drawn the attention of all consumers to keep the bills safe as the original bill becomes mandatory after the announcement of gifts.

The department has urged consumers to ask for the original VAT and PAN bill of their purchase and to inform the department if they do not receive the bill. The Department is preparing to publish the results of the first 15 days of the Tax Payer Incentive Programme, which came into effect from July 17.

“Technically, we are ready. We are in a position to declare the results of first 15 days (15 winners at the rate of Rs 100,000 per day and bumper 1 lakh winner of 15 days) next week if there is no major technical problem,” the department said. In the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle had announced to bring the taxpayers into the tax system and to develop a culture of bill taking.

As per the announcement, the Ministry had approved the Gift Operation Procedure in the last week of June. As per the work procedure, one consumer will be provided with Rs 100,000 cash every day by deducting tax and Rs 1 million as bumper gift for two people every 15 days (two people a month).
