Kathmandu. Despite the rocky hills, geographical remoteness and obstacles, the 62-km Postal Road of Kanchanpur has not been completed even after nine and a half years.
The contractors were given the opportunity to work by extending the contract time and ÷ time. Locals, lawmakers, ministers and politicians have urged the government to complete the work on time.
The construction of the Postal Road in the southern part of the district has not been completed yet.
“Although the first and last package (Dokebazar-Belauri and Beldadi-Daiji section) has been completed after signing agreements time and again÷ we are in the process of awarding a new contract for the middle package.” Mukunda Prasad Lamichhane, chief of the Postal Highway Project Office Dhangadhi, said, “The contractors did not give priority to the project for not completing it on time. ”
The first package (20 kilometers) from Dokebazaar to Belauri is being handed over to the Road Division Office, Mahendranagar. “The construction of the Beldadi-Daiji section of the last 24 kilometers has also been completed and is in the DLP period. Lamichhane said, “The contractor will keep the petty contractor even though there is full support from the office for the work like extension of deadline and payment.” The plan was not completed for years due to mischief and non-payment of work. ”
According to him, the construction company Baba Hans Siddhisai JV had blacktopped the 11-km road from Belauri to Beldadi under the project. “Although the contractor was negligent in the package, we are preparing an estimate for a new contract by breaking the contract. A new contract will be opened within one and a half months. He said, “Due to the border dispute by India including the no-man’s land, it was not possible to blacktop 1,400 meters section in the 1 Pachui area.” Work will be carried out by leaving that part. ”
Earlier, the contract was signed for Rs 410 million. The contractor had already received payment of Rs 28 crore from the Postal Road Office.
Deputy Mayor of Belauri Municipality, Jogram Chaudhary, lamented that the road has not been constructed despite several efforts to complete the construction of Belauri-Beldadi road. “We submitted a memorandum to the minister and the prime minister regarding the construction of the road during this period. “We also took initiative with the Indian SSB to blacktop the area where obstruction was obstructed by the Indian side, but to no avail,” he said. According to him, the locals are facing problems in walking along the road section as it has been a muddy road.
“We have heard that a new contract is being awarded from the Postal Road Planning Office. He said, “After the new contract is opened, we should systematize it and complete the construction on time.” The people’s representatives have also been humiliated due to the lack of construction of this road. We are saddened that the road is not complete. ’’
