Seven-member taskforce formed to facilitate primary market reforms

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has formed a task force to make the primary market more transparent, credible and investor-friendly.

The Primary Market Reform Facilitation Taskforce has been formed under the coordination of the Executive Director of the Regulation Department of the Board.

The seven-member task force includes three employees from the Board, one representative from Nepal Stock Exchange, President of Merchant Bankers’ Association of Nepal, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and coordinator of Capital Market Committee.

The task force will also invite experts from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, Electricity Regulatory Commission, Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN), Stock Brokers Association of Nepal, CDS and Clearing Limited and other stakeholder organizations as per the need.

The task force formed with the objective of implementing the regulatory reforms under the capital market policy of the fiscal year 2083/84 was held at the Board’s office on Tuesday.

The meeting discussed the reform of the primary market.

The main terms of reference of the task force include the policy of reforms of primary markets, public issue of securities, book building, merchant bankers, IPO allotment, digital IPO, eligibility for IPO, IPO pricing, institutional investors, due diligence and other issues related to primary markets.
