Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadak Raj Poudel, has said that the Tourism Bill should be amended as per the need of time to systematize the development of tourism sector.

Speaking at the meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives today, Minister Pokharel pointed out the need of incorporating multidimensional topics including modern trekking route, health tourism, cultural and adventure tourism among others.

Minister Poudel said that the tourism bill drafted three years ago should be amended in detail if it has been presented in the National Assembly and brought to the House of Representatives.

He said, “A strong law is needed to make the country full of huge tourism potentials more systematic. ”

Taking part in the discussions on the principles of the bill held in the committee, the lawmakers suggested the government to upgrade the bill by holding discussions with stakeholders, tourism sector experts, entrepreneurs and related organisations.

On the occasion, Committee President Sumni Ma Udas said that the tourism bill should be amended keeping in mind the status of the constitution from the formulation to its implementation.

Lawmaker Jagadish Kharel (Lalitpur) said that the bill should be legislated as soon as possible as it is linked to the development and prosperity of the country.

Lawmaker Ganesh Bahadur Bishwakarma viewed that the bill should be brought incorporating economic, social and cultural aspects of the tourism sector.

Lawmaker Bhumika Limbu Subba suggested incorporating the concept of multicultural museum in the bill.

Anushka Shrestha advised the stakeholders to hold adequate discussions on the principles of the bill and seek suggestions from the stakeholders.
