Kathmandu. A cold store with a capacity of 100 tonnes has been constructed at Ratnapur of Chapakot municipality-8 in the district. The store was constructed at the cost of Rs 16 million with the Gandaki state government and Chapakot municipality.

Initially, there was a plan to construct a cold store with a capacity of more than 200 tons, but due to budget crunch, the cold storage capacity of 100 tons was set up, according to Chapakot-8 ward chair Top Lal Neupane.

Farmers are elated with the construction of cold storage in Ratnapur, where potato is produced commercially. Now, the compulsion to go to Bhairahawa, Jimuha of Galyang and Putalibazaar for potato storage has been removed. Similarly, farmers are compelled to spend up to Rs 500 for transporting a sack of potato to the storage centre.
