Journalists protest with lanterns demanding release of journalist Kishor Shrestha

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali journalists have taken to the exhibition demanding the release of journalist Kishor Shrestha.

Journalists carried lanterns and tied black bands in front of the Kathmandu Police Premises today. During the demonstration, there was a scuffle between the police and journalists.

The peaceful protestors were stopped by the police.

The journalists chanted slogans such as release of journalist Kishor Shrestha unconditionally, ‘No attempt to silence the press by intimidating journalists’ and ‘Restoration of press freedom’.

KATHMANDU: Editor-in-Chief of Jana Aastha Weekly, Kishor Shrestha, has been arrested by police on Wednesday night. Shrestha was arrested on the charge of violating the Personal Privacy Act, 2075, according to police.
