Kathmandu. The government has formed a facilitation committee for the implementation of the agreements of the families of the injured and martyrs during the Zenji agitation on September 23 and 24 last year.

Joint-Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Hemraj Aryal, informed this at a press briefing held here today.

The ‘Genji Agreement and Integrated Package Implementation Coordination and Facilitation Committee’ formed under the convenorship of the Joint Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers will play a key role in the implementation and coordination of the agreements signed between the government and the agitating side.

The committee has been given the main responsibility of reviewing the progress of the implementation of the ‘integrated package’ signed between the Government of Nepal and Gen-G representatives on December 1, 2082 and approved by the meeting of the Council of Ministers on July 1, 2083. The committee will also maintain coordination among various ministries for the implementation of the package.

This committee will work as a direct point for the injured and martyr’s families. The committee has been mandated to coordinate and facilitate with various government bodies for the implementation of sensitive issues including education, health and employment of the affected families as per the package approved by the Council of Ministers.

The committee will identify the necessary measures for improvement and recommend to the bodies concerned to resolve the practical problems or complexities that might come up in course of the implementation of the agreement and package. In course of carrying out activities as per its mandate, the Committee may hold discussions and meetings by inviting government or non-government representatives and thematic experts (experts) as per the need.

The members of the committee include one under-secretary each from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene, and the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security. Basudev Khanal, under-secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, is the member-secretary of the committee.
