Govt claims gas supply is increasing

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has urged the general public to purchase only the required quantity of LP cooking gas (LPG) saying the supply has been increasing as compared to the previous period.

Speaking at a press conference organized at the Ministry today, Spokesperson Netra Prasad Subedi said that the government was facilitating the sale and distribution of LPG.TAG_OPEN_div_12 “Let’s buy only the quantity we need for the time being. Get rid of the worries and problems that you will not get later. Let’s not hoard unnecessarily,” he said.

According to Subedi, 2,781 bullet gas cylinders were imported from India from August 17 to August 17, adding that an average of 132,000 cylinders were being marketed daily.TAG_OPEN_div_10 According to Nepal Oil Corporation, 1.10 lakh cylinders were sold daily in the past. On August 11, 134 bullets of cooking gas were imported.

Spokesperson Subedi said that the Ministry has been working to make the supply and distribution system more effective by coordinating with the representatives of the stakeholders in order to balance the increasing demand and supply.TAG_OPEN_div_8

According to him, the government has been requested through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to increase the supply of LPG to 60,000 metric tonnes for three months against the current regular supply of 49,50 TAG_OPEN_div_7 0 metric tonnes per month. Although the government claims that the supply of cooking gas is increasing, consumers are still in line.
