Rain obstructs various highways

Kathmandu. Roads in various parts of the country have been obstructed due to incessant rain.

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the vehicular movement has been obstructed in Kavrepalanchowk, Ilam, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Rukum West, Sankhuwasabha, Lamjung, Mustang, Rolpa and Chitwan districts.

All vehicular movement along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the Kavrepalanchowk-Sindhuli highway has been restricted from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am every day in view of possible floods. Vehicles will be allowed on the road from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Likewise, the movement of all types of vehicles along the Kanti Highway in Makwanpur district has been restricted from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am due to rainfall.

The Mechi Highway has been completely obstructed due to mudslides at Rajduwali of Ilam municipality-9. According to the police, there is an alternative road in the area.

The Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk district has been completely disrupted after a landslide occurred at Liping of Bhotekoshi rural municipality-4.

The Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road section has been completely obstructed due to road erosion at Khalte of Uttargaya rural municipality-5 in Rasuwa district.

Similarly, landslides have completely obstructed the Jajarkot-

Dolpa road section along the Bheri corridor near Rijegard Khola of Aathbiskot municipality-6 in Rukum (West).

SANKHUWASABHA: Vehicular movement along the Khandbari-Kimathanka road section along the Koshi Highway has come to a complete halt after a road caved in at Sirek hill of Bhotkhola rural municipality-3 in Sankhuwasabha.

LAMJUNG: The Besisahar-Manang road section has been completely obstructed due to landslides at Rambazaar of Marsyangdi rural municipality-4 in Lamjung district. The Beni-Jomsom road section has also been obstructed due to a landslide at Kaiku Khola of Thasang rural municipality-4 in Mustang district, according to police.

The Prithvi Highway has been completely obstructed after landslides occurred at Kagdanda of Sunil Smriti rural municipality-4 in Rolpa and the dry landslides at Ichhakamana rural municipality-5, Simaldhara in Chitwan district.

The Nepal Police Headquarters has urged one and all concerned to take necessary precaution only by knowing the condition of the roads they travel on as landslides, floods are causing road erosion and sinking due to incessant rain.
