Ministry of Foreign Employment and Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs sign agreement

Kathmandu. With the agreement reached between the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment and the Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association, all the protest programs announced by the entrepreneurs have been withdrawn.

The union, which had launched the agitation on August 8 putting forth a 15-point demand, had announced to stop sending workers to the destination countries from August 17.

An agreement was reached to address the demands of entrepreneurs in a meeting held with the chairpersons and office-bearers of the Association in the presence of Minister Ramji Yadav at the Ministry today.

Most of the 15-point demands put forth by the NRNA during the outcome were the subjects of policy address and these demands have been incorporated in the process of amending the Foreign Employment Act and Regulations. Both the Ministry and the Association have agreed to make maximum efforts to conclude the amendment process as soon as possible in order to make the foreign employment sector transparent, safe and dignified.

Likewise, the discussion also clarified that the Department would facilitate the administration if the Department requests the Department with necessary evidence and documents in respect of other demands of the entrepreneurs and the Department could make an appeal to the Ministry on the issues not resolved by the Department.

With the agreement, the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs (NAFEA) has pledged to end all its pressure-exerting programs from today.
