NEA’s profit drops by 58.60 percent

Kathmandu. In the last fiscal year 2082/83, the profit of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decreased by more than half.

In the last fiscal year, NEA’s profit decreased by 58.60 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.

Acting Managing Director of NEA, Dirgha Kumar Shrestha, said that the total amount excluding tax has been reduced to Rs 5.04 billion.

In the fiscal year 2081/82, NEA had a profit before tax of Rs 12.17 billion. It had earned a net profit of Rs 8.91 billion in the previous year.

NEA’s profit has decreased by around Rs 4 billion during this period.

NEA claims that the profit has decreased due to the increase in NEA’s additional liabilities and fluctuations in foreign exchange rate.

According to NEA, the profit has decreased due to the distribution of up to 20 units of free electricity to the consumers for household use.
