Kathmandu. The Supreme Court has issued a mandamus order to release journalist Kishor Shrestha.

A division bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal issued the mandamus order to release Shrestha, who is also the editor of Jana Aastha Weekly.

The bench also ordered the return of confiscated media materials and materials taken from Shrestha’s house.

On Friday, the Supreme Court had ordered Shrestha to be present before the court along with the goods seized from his office. Shrestha was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of violating the Personal Privacy Act, 2075.
