“The plan is to further reduce the payment period to 25 days by the last week of August. The government has paid Rs 600 million to farmers from May 3 to Monday,” said Minister Chaudhary. According to him, in the last two fiscal years, the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) had to purchase more milk than before. According to Minister Chaudhary, although the surplus of unsold milk is processed to produce powder milk and butter, the increase in the stock has affected the sale and income of the farmers.

According to Minister Chaudhary, the corporation’s financial liability has increased due to huge stock of milk and milk products, high cost of milk processing, administrative expenses, poor management and old structures.TAG_OPEN_div_22 According to her, in the past, administrative expenses were prioritized over payment to farmers, which led to long payment period.

According to Minister Chaudhary, there are 235 milk cooperatives supplying milk to DDC across the country.TAG_OPEN_div_20 She said that the arrears to be paid to the farmers through these cooperatives have also been reduced. “For the past two months, the corporation has focused its entire attention on the payment of farmers. As a result, the payment has become easier and the cooperatives have also gained confidence in the corporation,” Minister Chaudhary said.

Minister Chaudhary said that the corporation has been using the amount for regular payment to the farmers by cutting down on unnecessary expenses, recovering the remaining amount from the market and selling the milk and milk products stocked with the corporation through marketing.TAG_OPEN_div_18 According to her, managerial and financial reforms of DDC Corporation have been prioritized to improve the financial condition of DDC, manage the market and make payment to farmers regular.

Earlier, the DDC had introduced a policy of reducing the payment of arrears to the farmers and using the amount received from the daily transaction for the payment of farmers.TAG_OPEN_div_16 Minister Chaudhary said that he plans to take a loan of Rs 400 million from the government to improve the financial condition of the corporation and to clear the dues of farmers. She said that she plans to use Rs 20 crore to pay farmers and Rs 20 crore to set up new processing plants.

} “Preliminary analysis shows that the organization is gradually collapsing due to the lack of efficient leadership, poor financial discipline, lack of transparency and accountability and the psychology of illegal earnings,” Minister Chaudhary said.
