10 per cent hike in remuneration of teachers and staff

. KATHMANDU: The government has decided to increase the remuneration and grants to teachers and early childhood development (ECD) facilitators and school staffers working on federal grants.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today decided to increase the salary of teachers working under the Federal Teaching Assistance Grant quota by 10 percent.TAG_OPEN_div_28

According to the decision, the monthly salary of secondary level teachers under the Federal Teaching Assistance Grant quota has increased from Rs 43,669 to Rs 48,058.TAG_OPEN_div_26 Similarly, the monthly salary of primary level teachers has been increased from Rs 34,730 to Rs 38,203.

Similarly, the government has added Rs TAG_OPEN_div_24 five thousand per month to the remuneration grant provided by the federal government to ECD facilitators, school staff and school helpers.

As per the new provision, the monthly salary of an ECD facilitator has been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 17,000, that of school helper from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 and that of an account employee from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.TAG_OPEN_div_22

On the occasion, Minister for TAG_OPEN_div_20 Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said that efforts have been taken to resolve the problems faced by the school employees and ECD facilitators for long. The government was committed to their job security, career growth and overall career development of the Nepali migrant workers, he added.

With the increase in remuneration, ECD facilitators, school staff, school helpers and teachers of the Federal Teaching Assistance Grant quota will be directly benefited.TAG_OPEN_div_18 It is believed that this will boost the morale of the human resources working in the school and contribute positively to improve the quality of education.

After the implementation of the remuneration increase, additional liabilities of Rs 4.68 billion will be created on the government annually.TAG_OPEN_div_16
